Ighodalo Promises Investment in Robust Agric, Tourism

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was welcomed by thousands of people from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area on Tuesday, who flooded the Public Field in Igarra, the local government headquarters, in a demonstration of support and loyalty to the party.

The crowd was largely due to the synergy between Obaseki’s deputy, Marvellous Omobayo, and the chairman of the local government area, Tajudeen Alade.

An enthusiastic crowd welcomed Obaseki and his entourage, including the party’s candidate for the gubernatorial election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, his running mate, Osarodion Ogie Esq., and other top party leaders.

The governor expressed gratitude to the people for consistently supporting the PDP, emphasizing that Akoko-Edo has endured marginalization for a long time. Consequently, he took the responsibility to alter that order and narrative.

According to him, he was devoted to ensuring that there is equity and fairness and that Akoko-Edo receives what she deserves, he “gave Akoko-Edo juicy positions, and laid the foundation of a polytechnic in the area because your people are very brilliant and intelligent.”

He said government is a continuous process and there is a need to ensure “capable hands, people with the capacity, competence and those with empathy lead the people, that is why I brought Ighodalo and Ogie to further the development in Edo State.”

According to Obaseki, Akoko-Edo is rich in mineral resources. The government has taken all measures to secure mining licenses, and Asue Ighodalo will attract investors to the city.

In his welcome speech, Omobayo expressed gratitude to the governor for giving Akoko-Edo lucrative positions, stating that he is the only governor who has done so for the people of Akoko-Edo. He also praised him for establishing a polytechnic in Akoko-Edo as well as giving them other appointments.

He debunked the news that a group in Akoko-Edo has endorsed the APC candidate saying “that is not the voice of the people of Akoko-Edo but a group made up of hungry people who want money.”

According to him, Obaseki and PDP have served the people well, and the only thing the people can do is use their votes to express gratitude.

Addressing the crowd, Ighodalo thanked the crowd for the significant turnout and pledged to revamp tourism, cashew production agriculture, and other related fields.

He placed great emphasis on the mineral resources in the region, asserting that he would make the local government prosperous and a source of wealth due to the mineral deposits in the area.
